Nick Tuitasi and the "First Fifteen"

"I'm having trouble keeping my prayer life on track" Nick told his men's small group. After talking about the problems of maintaining a routine, one of the guys offered to send a text message to Nick to help with accountability.

This is the grid they decided on. Prayer days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Starting at 6.00am, they do the 1st Fifteen minutes of the day. The 15 minutes is broken into 3 groups of 5 minutes with the acronym "JOY".

1st 5 min Jesus - praise Jesus
2nd 5 min Others - pray for others
3rd 5 min Yourself - pray for your needs

At 6.15am the men text each other. Extra training is an option and it's easy to extend out beyond 15 minutes and 3 days a week. It's an achievable starting point for creating a routine. This is a real way that men can support and encourage each other in spiritual growth. Men can grow spiritually up to seven times faster in an accountable men's small group compared to involvement in Sunday services only.
