My Blog 2006

| Check out Paul's New Blog at http://blog.promisekeepers.org.nz Reflections on 2006 2006 has been an extraordinary year for us at Promise Keepers. We thank God for His power and His presence. Here are some of the highlights: 1. Easily the most common comment for the 2006 Unleashed Events has been that they were the most impacting and powerful of any of the Events that we have held over the last thirteen years. 2. A large number of first-time commitments and recommitments have been made and many life-changing decisions committed to. The challenge now is to see those decisions processed in the context of the local church and ordinary guys transformed into extraordinary men of God. |
||
| 3. To assist with this, National Coaching Co-ordinator Dean Comerford has been appointed this year as a huge step of faith. We continue to develop and refine resources that will ensure Ministry with Men in the local church is effective, inspirational, impacting and life-changing. As each man within this ministry uses the guidelines of the Seven Promises of a Promise Keeper to live his life, he will impact all those around him. |
||
Looking Forward to 2007… Planning is already well underway for 2007… In the meantime, have a well-earned break over the Christmas period, always remembering the reason for the season… We live to fulfil God’s purpose here on earth. Blessings, Paul |

We are mid-season now with the Unleashed Events. The first three Events have been truly awesome! Here are some trends:
· Lots of momentum at the Events taking Promise Keepers to a new level.
· Greater depth than ever before with God meeting men and changing lives.
· Men being empowered by God’s Spirit.
· Attendance boosted over last year.
· Excellent satisfaction levels, with pre-registrations for 2007 100% up at South Island Events.
· Massive interest in ongoing Coaching for ministry with men in churches.
We are thrilled to be at the epicentre of the men’s movement in New Zealand. It is a real privilege to see the impact Promise Keepers is having.

I am convinced that many men don’t need to be fixed up, just fired up!

We have produced hundreds more outdoor signs to add to the existing stocks. Our vision is for anyone passing through a town or on a state highway to see several “Promise Keepers” signs. Auckland has had great coverage due to some keen men. There have been other “hot spots” but now we want to see the message spread. Can you help? Do you have a site on a busy road? Do you have the initiative to ask a property owner on a busy road or intersection if they will host a sign for a few weeks? |
|
| We have found that many people with good sites are used to being asked. They already know the answer. Just ask and they will tell you – yes or no. We need you to help – now. I am convinced that outdoors signs are the most powerful way to raise awareness of Promise Keepers and our Events. That is why I am totally committed to getting the message out with signs. Will you help me? |

The Unleashed DVD promo has now been released. I think it is particularly powerful as it is based on several people endorsing the Promise Keepers Events (drawing from their experience of).
We appreciate men like Michael Jones who is well known for his principled stand of not playing rugby on Sundays. It is great to have a man of integrity like Michael supporting what Promise Keepers is doing.
Grab a copy of the free DVD and show your mates and groups at church. Then get them registered!

“UNLEASHED” GAINS MOMENTUM
I have worked closely with a core group over several months to establish the direction, theme and detail for “Unleashed”. From that we have worked through the topics and worked out a powerful mix of speakers for maximum impact. That involves not only each speaker’s expertise in a topic, but also which events they are available for and how many events they cover. As well, we work hard to get as good a presentation of denominations (streams) and ethnicities as possible. This grid is not only applied overall but to each event. Other program elements of music, multimedia, testimony, drama, comedy, small group interaction and panel discussions also have to be covered. Then we work through it all again for “Transition”, “Single Focus” and the “Pastors’ breakout”. These four events are repeated in five centres. ![]() |
Of course if you have a world-class event men need know about it, so a lot of effort is also going into promotional tools. Each year completion of the brochure is a key milestone because it defines the look and feel of promotion. We work towards a consistent theme for each year which conveys the fresh ideas unique to each season. We are thrilled that the brochure is printed and will soon be in the mail to the South Island men. Bulk supplies are available now to groups. Posters, church packs and the promo DVD are being worked on. The look of new outdoor signs has been freshened up while keeping the “family resemblance” which is so important for brand awareness. |

SIGN UP FOR ACTION!

The Promise Keepers army of volunteers has a new General. Jo, herself a volunteer, has joined up to help us better co-ordinate the volunteer team effort. This commitment and focus is really thrilling because it will not only help the ministry run more smoothly, it will also honour people’s donations of time by better utilisation of resources. If you have helped in the past, we would like to see you involved again. If you are considering helping out, then please give the office a call to get in touch with Jo. |
AREAS WE ARE LOOKING FOR HELP IN INCLUDE:
Event teams. Additional volunteers are needed in every event centre for a range of tasks.
Prayer. Ongoing or at the events. For regular intercessors, contact us to get the monthly prayer newsletter. See prayer page for the latest copy.
Signs. This key strategy for advertising the events relies on keen people nationwide. Anyone can help make this even more effective.
Promise Keepers office. Year round people are helping at the office. In winter and spring our aim is to build an even more extensive team to ensure that the load is light for everyone. There is a surprising variety of work available so call to see how your skills can build the Kingdom.

I have been blessed by the commitment of so many people over the years. Thank you to all the volunteers – because of you Promise Keepers exists today. We deeply appreciate you! |

Since my last entry we have wrapped up the first round of Coaching meetings. See the report and check out the DVD.
We are continuing work on how the theme “Unleashed” will be worked out through the program. It is exciting to see the fresh opportunities to really connect real men with our real God in this real world.
Ps Geoff Wiklund is back from the speakers summit in Denver, USA. We appreciate Geoff representing PKNZ and also the sacrifice of his time and paying most of his own way there. He was privileged to be with the American speakers while they discussed how they will be approaching the topics this year.
We are looking at all the opportunities to use DVDs/videos in promoting Unleashed. Also training, (particularly small groups) and during the multimedia portion of the events. We are proposing to form an Audio Visual (AV) Taskforce. This will incorporate guys that have assisted in the past and also provide opportunities for new guys to become involved. Please call/email me if you wish to assist in this area. Ph 0800 PROMISE (77 66 47) for my contact details.

Peaceful Valley Ranch in the Rocky mountains, US Speakers Summit venue. Nice, eh?
I want to let you know up front how the planning is going for “Unleashed”. I am excited by the progress we have made, building on last years “The Awakening” event. Men are really stepping up and Unleashed will capture that momentum building powerfully into men’s purpose, identity and destiny.
Check back regularly to see what we are up to…

In Auckland after many years at the Logan Campbell Centre we are making the big shift to the awesome Telstra Clear Pacific Stadium in Manukau City. You would have seen it as you drive along the Southern Motorway. It’s new, it’s fresh, it’s blokey and it’s great to be going there. http://www.pacific.org.nz/
At Tauranga we also have a new venue at the Holy Trinity Tauranga. This is a brilliant new facility. We expect that both these new venues will make for a different and better experience for the guys this year. http://www.holytrinity.org.nz
